/ Terms · ACL-aligned

Twelve clauses.
No clever stuff.

Last updated 10 May 2026. What you pay for, what you get, what happens if something goes wrong. Australian Consumer Law applies on top. these terms can't and don't override it.

1. The deal

Karven is a per-trade quoting calculator and PDF generator. You sign up, pick your trade, complete onboarding, and start producing quotes. Either of us can walk at any time without penalty.

These terms apply to anyone who uses karven.com.au (and any subdomain or alternate hostname we run it on), whether on the free tier or a paid plan.

2. Free tier

The free tier covers 3 quotes per account, lifetime. not per month, not per quarter, lifetime. Once you've inserted three, the database refuses the fourth until you upgrade. The cap is enforced at the row level, not by a polite banner you can dismiss.

Free quotes carry a small Karven stamp on the PDF footer. From Solo onwards the PDF is fully your brand.

4. What you can do with Karven

Quote anything in your trade. the calculator is yours, the templates are yours to populate, the PDFs are yours to send.

Embed our calculator widget on your own website on Crew and Pro plans. Skin it with your brand colours and feed leads back to your Karven dashboard.

Export your data on demand. Every quote, customer, line item. yours, in CSV or JSON, no questions asked.

5. What you can't do

Resell Karven as your own product. The brand and the codebase aren't yours. your data is.

Reverse-engineer the calculation engine to recreate it commercially. (Want to use the templates internally? That's fine.)

Run automated abuse. scraping the site, hammering the API, signing up dozens of fake accounts to dodge the free-tier cap. We rate-limit and we will close offending accounts.

6. What we do

Keep Karven running, fix bugs you report, ship features the trade actually asks for, charge you fairly and on time, hold your data securely (see the Privacy Policy).

Give you 14 days notice before any material change to pricing, plans, or these terms. by email, to the address on your account.

Take Australian Consumer Law seriously. Anything we say in marketing copy, we mean. If we don't deliver, you have ACL rights that override anything in this contract.

7. Uptime

We aim for 99.5% uptime measured monthly. Vercel hosts the app, Supabase hosts the database, both with their own SLAs that effectively cap ours.

If we miss 99% in a calendar month and the outage was our fault (not Vercel's, not Supabase's, not yours), we credit your next invoice 10% per percentage-point missed.

8. Intellectual property

Your data is yours. Your quotes are yours. Your customer list is yours. We hold it for you. we don't claim a license to it.

The Karven codebase, brand and templates are ours. The shape of the calculator output (the templates) is shared knowledge of the trade. anything you customise inside your account stays yours and can be exported.

9. Cancellation and refunds

Cancel any time via the Billing portal. Stripe handles the cancellation immediately. Your subscription remains active until the end of the current paid period, then drops back to the free tier.

We don't refund partial months by default. If you cancelled because we broke something material, email us and we'll usually credit you. ACL rights apply on top of this.

10. Warranty and liability

We provide Karven as-is. The calculator is honest and tested, but you remain responsible for the prices you quote your customers. eyeball every figure before you press send.

Our liability for any cause connected to this service is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months prior. This cap doesn't apply to anything ACL says we can't cap.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia. Disputes go to courts in Sydney unless we both agree to mediation first.

12. Contact

Questions, disputes, billing problems, weird edge cases: hello@karven.com.au. Quote your account email and we'll usually reply the same day in business hours, or first thing the next.
