The maths your Excel sheet keeps getting wrong.
Everything below is baked into the garage door template before you sign up. You answer your business questions once in onboarding, every quote rebases.
- 01
Cut-optimised board count for sectional doors (no waste in the formula)
- 02
Frame brackets scaled by mount type × opening width — flush, rebate, sectional
- 03
Jamb timber priced per 7200mm length, not per linear metre
- 04
Motor package wholesale for Merlin / B&D / Steel-Line / Eco-Plus tiers
- 05
Install crew labour at your rate per hour × estimated job duration
Why tradies switch
Faster quotes, the same maths every time.
20 minutes → 4 minutes
The maths is in the template, not your head. Width × height + mount + motor → live total updating as you type.
Same maths every quote
Your Tuesday quote and your Friday quote use identical pricing logic. Customers can't say 'mate next door got it cheaper' because the engine doesn't have a bad day.
PDF that looks like a real shop
Branded with your logo, ABN, terms, quote number. Customers take faster action on quotes that look like you ran a real business.
Under the bonnet
How the engine handles the edge cases
The frame bracket count isn't a flat number per metre. It scales with mount type. A flush-mounted sectional door at 4500mm needs five brackets per side, but a rebate mount on the same opening only needs four because the rebate carries some load. The template encodes that branch logic; you don't have to remember which mount gets which count.
Jamb cost is priced per 7200mm length rather than per linear metre because that's how timber yards in NSW actually sell jamb. If your opening is 4500mm wide and 2400mm tall, the perimeter is 9300mm. The engine ceilings to two 7200mm lengths (with waste planned in), not the awkward 1.29 lengths a straight metres-times-rate calc would give you.
Motor sizing isn't your call. The engine picks the right Newton rating from door area and panel material. A 4500x2400 colorbond sectional needs 800N; the same opening in a heavier timber-clad door needs 1000N. If you override the engine's pick, it shows a soft warning so you don't undersize and end up replacing motors on warranty.
Garage doors · FAQ
Trade-specific questions.
The questions garage door tradies actually ask. Want to see how it works on a real job?
Does it know the maths for sectional vs flush mount?
Yes. The garage door template branches on mount type and opening width to pick the right frame bracket count and jamb length. The engine treats sectional, flush, rebate and custom as separate paths. No manual maths.
What motors are pre-loaded?
Merlin (200N to 1200N), B&D (CAD-S, CAD-M, Auto-Lift), Steel-Line (Eco-Plus, Pro), generic 800N. You can override the wholesale per motor in onboarding so your supplier's price wins.
Can I add custom add-ons?
Yes. Wifi controller, extra remote, weather seal, padlock kit. Configure once in Settings then Calculator defaults; they show up as toggleable add-ons on every new quote.
What about non-standard widths (4800mm, 5400mm, single 2400mm)?
Width is a free input, not a dropdown. The engine scales board count, bracket count, jamb length, and labour proportionally. There's a sanity warning if you go above 5800mm because most off-the-shelf rails won't span that far without a centre support, but you can override it for a custom build.
Does it handle B-grade or seconds-grade panels?
Use the 'custom door type' path. Enter the wholesale you paid the supplier and the engine applies your standard margin, frame, motor, and install on top. Useful for clearance buys you want to pass on to the customer without doing the maths in your head.
Can I quote two doors on the same job?
Save the first quote, hit 'Quote like last time' for the same customer, change the dimensions on the second. Both quotes link to the same customer record. Or list them as line items on one quote if that's how the customer wants the breakdown.
What happens if my supplier's price changes mid-job?
Onboarding stores the wholesale per motor and per door tier. Edit any value in Settings, and every new quote rebases instantly. Old quotes keep their original prices so you don't accidentally bill a customer at the new rate.
